Chemical peels have been used for hundreds of years to create an even and controlled shedding of damaged skin cells. Science has advanced over the years and now, with new advances, we can bring individualized formulas that address your skin care needs. These treatments can be used on your face, neck, chest, back, hands…virtually anywhere!

The goal of chemical peeling is to remove a controlled thickness of damaged skin in order to stimulate normal healing and skin rejuvenation. In this treatment, solutions are applied to remove dead skin cells, and stimulate the production of new skin cells. It works by acting on the bond that holds dead skin cells on the surface. Dead cells are then removed, leaving behind a layer of smoother and softer skin.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (A.H.A.) are known as organic acids. One of the more commonly used AHA acids is glycolic acid, commonly referred to as “fruit acid”, because many are derived from fruits.

These acids are applied topically to the skin, and act to gently slough away the top layer of dead skin cells to promote the renewal of the skin cells. Glycolic acid peels are effective for evening out pigmentation and skin tone, and for smoothing the texture of skin. In addition, glycolic acid repairs some of the signs of sun damage (such as age spots), and generally promotes healthier looking skin.

There is some clinical data that suggests glycolic acid promotes the growth of new collagen in the dermis. Therefore, fine lines and skin roughness may benefit from a series of glycolic acid peels.

A series of glycolic acid peels is required to achieve optimum results. Generally, the peels are spaced 2-4 weeks apart. Based on your skin’s response to the previous peel, each peel is either kept on for a longer period of time or is increased in strength. This allows you to gradually step-up to reach the maximum benefits as your skin develops a tolerance to the higher strength glycolic acid. In addition, the use of our skin care products, will increase the effectiveness of the series of peels.

Uses:
  • Smoothes rough, dry skin
  • Improves texture of sun-damaged skin
  • Aids in control of acne
  • Can be combined with color correcting creams to improve pigment problems
  • Can be used as TCA pre-treatment

Considerations:
  • A series of peels will maximize the benefit to your skin
  • As with most peel treatments, minimizing sun exposure use is recommended
